CEPO Launches National Peace and Trust Campaign with Upcoming National Transitional Dialogue Initiative

The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) has officially launched its campaign for the National Peace and Trust platform, marking a significant step toward fostering democratic dialogue in the nation. Scheduled to commence in November 2024, the National Transitional Dialogue (NTD) seeks to create a shared space for citizens and leaders to engage in constructive discussions regarding the ongoing transitional process initiated in 2015.

Mr. Edmund Yakani, the Executive Director of CEPO, highlighted the NTD’s mission to facilitate dialogues that promote a social contract between citizens and their leaders. By nurturing a culture of open communication, the organization aims to foster a more democratic and peaceful society.

“The upcoming political season involves numerous transitional tasks, including constitutional reform, judiciary reforms, public finance management, transitional justice, and the unification of forces—all of which require proactive civic engagement,” Mr. Yakani stated during the launch event. “The National Transitional Dialogue is designed to provide citizens with a platform to participate actively in these critical discussions.”

As the nation prepares for vital tasks such as population census and national general elections, CEPO urges citizens to fully engage in the NTD events. Mr. Yakani emphasized the importance of demanding political accountability from leaders and political establishments to ensure a democratic society characterized by peace and stability.

With the NTD, CEPO endeavors to empower citizens in shaping their future and reinforcing the pillars of democracy within the nation. The initiative promises to be a pivotal opportunity for civic dialogue and a proactive approach to governance as the country navigates its transitional phase.
