Historic Appointment: Hon. Simangi Makes History as Nadiangere’s First Female Chief Administrator
Hon. Simangi Victoria Hinipai Moses was sworn in as the Chief Administrator of the Nadiangere Administrative Area on Monday. This event marks a significant milestone, as she becomes the first female to hold this position in the area’s history.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the State Secretariat in Yambio, attended by esteemed government officials including the Minister of Local Government, the Minister of Cabinet Affairs, and the Minister of Information, along with other dignitaries from Western Equatoria.
The creation of the Nadiangere Administrative Area, elevated from payam status in June 2024 by H.E. Lt. Gen. Alfred Futiyo Karaba, Governor of Western Equatoria, was designed to combat years of neglect and isolation for the region, situated approximately 105 miles from the state capital.
Governor Karaba, addressing the assembly, emphasized the imperative of unity and cooperation under the new administration. “Now, the government has given you, the people of Nadiangere, the authority to govern yourselves. It is your duty to work hard towards peace, unity, and development. Respect your Chief Administrator and support her leadership as she serves this community,” he remarked, highlighting the collective responsibility of the community.
In her inaugural speech, Hon. Simangi Victoria Hinipai Moses expressed her appreciation for the opportunity and committed to serving the people of Nadiangere with dedication. “This is not just a personal achievement but a responsibility that I embrace with humility. Together, we can bring lasting peace, development, and better opportunities for the people of Nadiangere. I call on everyone to join hands with me in building a brighter future for our community,” she declared.
Hon. Simangi’s appointment is not only a personal triumph but also a powerful step toward gender inclusion and equitable development in South Sudan. Her leadership is expected to inspire the community and foster collaboration, as she begins this critical role during a time of transformation for the region.
