By Denilson Deneki
Luol Deng has been re-elected as the President of the South Sudan Basketball Federation (SSBF) with 12 votes in a recent election. The absence of any competitors virtually guarantees his continuation in the role for another four-year term.
Dr. Aruo Ramadan Charles was elected as Secretary General and Wal Paul Puk was voted in as the Secretary for Finance. The three elected members will lead the SSBF until 2028.
During Deng’s previous tenure, he played a crucial role in advancing South Sudanese basketball, leading the country to its debut in the FIBA World Cup and achieving a first-place ranking in Africa. With an eye on future success, South Sudan is preparing to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games in France.
Speaking after the election results were announced, Deng expressed his commitment to completing unfinished projects and bringing more trust to his leadership.
Dr. Aru Ramadan Charles emphasized the need for unity among members and called for support from the General Assembly.
Wal Paul Puk pledged transparency and accountability during their second term in office.
The newly elected board members are ready to lead the SSBF in the interest of South Sudanese basketball.
