National Youth Union Preparatory Committee Briefs Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports on Upcoming Convention

On March 13th, 2024, the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Joseph Geng Akech, was briefed by the National Youth Union Preparatory Committee (NYUPC) regarding the preparations for the upcoming 3rd National Youth Convention.

During the briefing, the Chairperson of the Committee, Moulana Gabriel Mading Apach, expressed gratitude to the Minister for his continuous support in ensuring that the convention takes place as scheduled. The Committee provided updates on the areas of delegates, assets, budget, and calendar for the event.

The NYUPC has finalized the lists of delegates from States, Administrative Areas, and other constituencies, signaling progress towards the successful organization of the convention. Hon. Dr. Joseph Geng commended the Committee for reaching this milestone and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to hosting the convention on time.

In addition to the briefing, the Minister disclosed that the Ministry has revised and submitted the Youth and Sports Bodies Bill 2024 to the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs. The bill is expected to undergo further review by the Council of Ministers and then proceed to the National Legislative Assembly.

Both the Ministry and the NYUPC are poised to announce the official calendar for the Youth Convention in the near future, demonstrating their joint efforts to empower and engage the youth in national development initiatives.
