Thiik Thiik Mayardit has made a bold choice to shut down UAP Insurance

Thiik Thiik Mayardit, Deputy Mayor for Social Services at Juba City Council, has made a courageous decision to close down UAP Insurance.

This decision comes after the company failed to comply with directives from the Ministry of Labor to reinstate national staff members who were unjustly dismissed.

During a press conference held in Juba, Thiik emphasized that UAP cannot continue its operations until the South Sudanese staff members, whose contracts were terminated, are reinstated. These employees were let go after staging a strike in September 2023, demanding fair treatment and a pay raise.

Thiik expressed his unwavering commitment to defending the rights of South Sudanese citizens who face unfair treatment from foreign companies.

“I have closed their establishment today, and if the management is willing, they can take this matter to court. Just like I did with Inside Security in the past, I will not seek the assistance of a lawyer. I am prepared to fight for justice,” He stated.

Furthermore, Thiik made it clear that he refuses to allow South Sudanese citizens to be treated as second-class citizens.

He firmly stated, “If others believe that our people can be treated like dogs without anyone to protect them, I am not one of them. My perspective is different, and I will continue to stand up for what is right.”

Some netizens believe that Thiik’s actions demonstrate his dedication to ensuring fairness and justice for the people of South Sudan, even in the face of powerful foreign entities.
