Alilang Academy Primary School Project Officially Commences with Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony

A significant step towards enhancing educational opportunities for the youth in Ruweng Administrative Area was marked on Thursday, 29th February 2024, as the foundation stone for the Alilang Academy Primary School’s construction was officially laid. The esteemed event saw the presence of Deputy Chief Administrator of Ruweng Administrative Area leading the momentous occasion.

The Alilang community came together to witness this groundbreaking milestone, with the Chairperson of the Aliiny Community Development Committee, Angelo Majok Gatdet, addressing the audience. The school is designed to have eight spacious classrooms catering to students from Grades 1 to 8. Additionally, it will feature an Administration Block, library, stores, kitchen, VIP latrines, and a security room in its first phase. Plans for phase two include the construction of a nursery and further enhancements within the school compound.

Mr. Gatdet highlighted the commitment to build a standard educational facility conforming to the approved blueprint. He also emphasized the utilization of 3% from the oil-producing areas like Aliiny County for local development initiatives, showcasing transparency and community-oriented decision-making.

Hon. Bol Lang Goch, the Commissioner of Aliiny County, acknowledged the challenges many parents faced in sending their children to schools far from home. The commencement of the Alilang Academy Primary construction aims to address this issue, providing accessible education opportunities for the local populace.

Deputy Chief Administrator of Ruweng Administrative Area, H.E. Monytoj Kuel Adur, elaborated on the funding mechanism for the school’s construction through the 3% Oil Net Revenue Share. He expressed gratitude to the Chief Administrator of Ruweng Administrative Area and the National Government for the innovative initiative of allocating resources to aid in the development of various counties.
