The security situation in Central Equatoria State remains steady and under control, according to H.E. Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani, the Governor, who presided over the State Security Committee’s weekly meeting on Tuesday at the State Secretariat in Juba.

Following the session, Hon. Leon Abe Brown, State Minister of Local Government and Law Enforcement Agency, addressed the media and reassured citizens that the overall security climate is peaceful. He urged the public to dismiss any circulating rumors regarding unrest, stating, “Our security is under control.”

Among the key issues raised during the meeting was the rising concern over traffic congestion caused by public and commercial motor vehicles, particularly rickshaws (tuktuks). Hon. Abe highlighted the need for better traffic management, stating that rickshaw operators have been instructed to facilitate smooth traffic flow and avoid obstructing roundabouts, especially during peak hours in the evening.

“We have noticed random blockages of roundabouts, particularly in areas such as Customs and Jebel, caused by the rickshaws,” said Hon. Abe. “While we’re not looking to drive them out—as we recognize that this is their source of livelihood—we must implement a system since these are highways intended for public use.”

In addition to traffic concerns, the Security Committee issued a caution to shop owners in Atlabara, Rujal Mafi, and Jebel Market, warning them against allowing their premises to be used for illegal activities, including prostitution.

Officials remain committed to maintaining order and enhancing public safety as they address the issues impacting Juba’s urban environment, assuring residents that their wellbeing is a top priority.
