Mr. Edmund Yakani, the Executive Director of CEPO, has issued a crucial appeal to the presidents set to meet soon regarding the critical state of the high-level committee’s assessment of the roadmap implementation.

In his plea, Mr. Yakani emphasized the pressing need for decisive action from the presidency, acknowledging that the current execution of the roadmap has fallen short of expectations. He underscored the necessity for a prompt and authentic decision that not only satisfies Tumaini but also aligns with the roadmap’s objectives.

Quoting Mr. Yakani directly, stated, “I appeal to the president to facilitate an inter-party dialogue that amalgamates the roadmap evaluation outcomes with Tumaini’s views. This collaborative effort must yield a novel political framework, steering the nation away from political tumult towards stability.”

The dire situation has been exacerbated by the failure of politicians to create conducive conditions for the upcoming elections slated for December 22. With the previous 24-months extension of the transitional period proving ineffective in preparing for the polls, questions arise regarding the purpose and implications of any further extension.

As the nation teeters on the brink of a legitimacy crisis, stakeholders look to the presidents for resolute leadership and swift solutions to avert a deepening political turmoil.
