FIFA Workshop for Football for Schools Concludes in South Sudan

The FIFA Workshop for Football for Schools (F4S) officially concluded in Juba, marking the successful completion of a three-day training course. The workshop, which took place from January 24th to January 26th, was supervised by FIFA instructors Mr. Alberto Giacomini and Antonio Sanchez.

During the closing ceremony, Mr. Sanchez, representing FIFA, highlighted the importance of school sports programs in the development of football. He emphasized that FIFA President Mr. Gianni Infantino has made it a priority to promote football in schools and called on all stakeholders to support this initiative.

“School sports have numerous benefits,” said Mr. Sanchez. “FIFA aims to promote it worldwide as it fosters peaceful coexistence, respect, and turns students into ambassadors for peace through sports.”

Mr. Victor Lawrence, Secretary General of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), stressed the need for effective management to ensure the success of FIFA programs in schools. He called upon the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to provide support for school sports programs in the country.

Charles Udwar, Vice President of SSFA, expressed the federation’s commitment to implementing the school sports project across South Sudan. He also requested support from FIFA for capacity development programs in schools.

Mr. Edward Satimon, Director General of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, affirmed the ministry’s dedication to promoting sports activities in the country. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with SSFA to achieve success in school sports programs and urged the federation to enhance the capabilities of sports administrators nationwide.

Mr. Kuyok Abol Kuyok, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education, acknowledged the crucial role of sports in society, particularly in light of President Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit’s belief that national sports can unite citizens. 

He pledged the ministry’s commitment to working with SSFA and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to implement school sports programs in South Sudan. Mr. Kuyok encouraged coaches to share their experiences with local associations and spread the knowledge throughout the country.

The event was attended by teachers, coaches, and members of the SSFA Board of Directors, showcasing the collective effort to promote football in schools and foster a culture of sports in South Sudan.
