Flex Forex & Money Transfer Expands Services in South Sudan with New Branch and Innovative USSD Feature

Flex Forex & Money Transfer has officially opened its latest branch at the Rotana Business Center on Airport Road in Juba, marking a significant step in enhancing financial access for South Sudanese citizens.
The launch event, attended by local business representatives and community members, featured a presentation by Donnah Midigo, a Business Development representative for the company, who introduced an innovative *235# USSD service designed to promote financial inclusion. This new service allows users to transfer money seamlessly from their Safaricom lines, commonly used by South Sudanese living in Kenya, to MTN MoMo accounts in South Sudan, with funds readily available at any MTN MoMo agent, including Flex branches.
This initiative aligns with the Bank of South Sudan’s ongoing digitization efforts aimed at reducing cash dependency and improving the purchasing power of citizens through virtual financial solutions.
The branch at Rotana Business Center adds to Flex Forex’s existing outlet at UAP Towers, with plans for a third branch in Konyo Konyo market forthcoming.
USSD Service (*235#): This service enables instantaneous cash transfers from Safaricom’s Mpesa to MTN MoMo South Sudan, accessible on both smartphones and feature phones at no transaction fees, aside from the standard MTN MoMo withdrawal charges.
Competitive Pricing: Transfers to Uganda and Kenya are offered at $2 for amounts up to $100, and a 2% fee applies for transfers above that threshold.
Job Creation: Flex Forex currently employs 15 South Sudanese youths across its two branches, with additional opportunities expected to arise from the anticipated opening of the Konyo Konyo branch.
Since its inception in South Sudan in 2010, Flex Forex & Money Transfer has continually evolved to better serve its clients, marking 15 years of dedication to facilitating financial transactions in the region.
The introduction of the *235# service not only bridges the gap in financial accessibility for those with connections to Kenya’s prevalent Safaricom network but also taps into the growing trend of mobile money use across Africa. By integrating with MTN MoMo, a vital player in South Sudan’s mobile money landscape, Flex Forex enhances the convenience of withdrawals for users. The company’s commitment to employing local talent and aligning with the central bank’s electronic money initiatives further positions Flex as a community-oriented service provider in South Sudan.
