Governor Encourages Displaced Persons in Western Equatoria State to Return Home

The Governor of Western Equatoria State has made a heartfelt plea for internally displaced persons residing in UNMISS and Army Barrack camps to return to their homes. This call comes following successful disarmament efforts that have effectively removed weapons used in violent acts.

Addressing the communities of Tambura County at Tambura Freedom Square, H.E Lt. Gen. Alfred Futuyo Karaba urged both the Balanda and Zande communities currently sheltering in the camps to consider relocating back to their homes. The Governor assured the residents of enhanced security provided by soldiers to ensure their safety upon return.

Governor Futuyo stressed the importance of all individuals in military attire being engaged in legitimate assignments. He warned of impending arrests for those found without proper authorization and announced the deployment of additional troops to maintain order and apprehend any unauthorized military personnel.

Furthermore, Governor Futuyo unveiled plans to introduce judicial oversight in Tambura County to address crimes effectively. He called upon the two community leaders to collaborate in establishing robust governance structures within the region.

In his address, Governor Futuyo lauded the efforts of the disarmament exercise and reached out to humanitarian partners for support in facilitating the return and resettlement of vulnerable individuals seeking to rebuild their lives.

Responding to the Governor’s statements, Commissioner of Tambura County, Hon. Mathew Mabenge, expressed gratitude for the unwavering support received from President Salva Kiir Mayardit and the division commander in tackling the challenges faced by the local community.
