Governor Jadalla Calls for New Approaches to Address Challenges in Juba City

In a significant move aimed at enhancing governance and addressing critical issues in Juba City, Central Equatoria State Governor H.E. Gen. Augustino Jadalla Kamilo Wani issued directives to the leadership of the Juba City Council during a meeting with Legislative Councillors and Quarter Council Chairpersons on Wednesday.

Governor Jadalla emphasized the importance of adopting innovative approaches to tackle various challenges affecting the city, urging the council leadership to prioritize key areas such as health services, security, garbage collection, and drainage.

Notably, the Governor instructed the Quarter Councils to designate specific locations within their respective areas for garbage disposal, emphasizing the importance of maintaining cleanliness in the capital city. He stated, “From today onwards, Gudele road, Munuki road, and all the roads, there should be no garbage on the roads. The Quarter Councils should allocate a place within the Quarters where garbage should be dumped and the vehicles will collect them later.”

Furthermore, Governor Jadalla highlighted the pressing need to address security concerns posed by groups known as “niggas” and “torontos,” declaring that decisive action must be taken to combat criminal activities and ensure public safety.

The Governor also called for stricter regulations on the sale of food items and alcoholic drinks, particularly targeting the circulation of illicit brews such as “jena fa’ar.” Additionally, he stressed the importance of responding effectively to challenges faced by residents in flood-affected areas, underscoring the link between environmental hazards and insecurity.

“Insecurity is not only when there are gunshots but also water (flood) can create insecurity because there are houses that have fallen down due to the rain. Your voices must be heard because your voice represents the citizens,” Governor Jadalla remarked, urging council leaders to fulfill their duty to the nation and prioritize citizen welfare.

As the Governor called for greater accountability and collective responsibility in addressing these critical issues, residents of Juba City look to the Council leadership to implement the directives and work towards building a safer, cleaner, and more secure environment for all.
