Juba County Legislative Council Inaugurated with a Call for Service Delivery and Collaboration
The newly formed Juba County Legislative Council for the 2024-2025 session was officially inaugurated on Tuesday by Juba County Commissioner Emmanuel Tete. This pivotal event marks a significant step toward enhancing local governance and ensuring that the voices of the community are heard in the decision-making process.
In his opening remarks, Commissioner Tete underscored the council’s role as not merely a governing body, but as a beacon of hope and progress for the citizens of Juba County. He emphasized the necessity for transparency and accountability in governance and pledged to prioritize service delivery across vital sectors such as roads, health, education, and infrastructure.
“The Council must enact policies that uplift our citizens and pave the way for a prosperous future,” Tete urged. He advocated for a collaborative approach, encouraging council members to foster an environment of open dialogue and constructive ideology.
Martin Simon Wani, Director-General of Local Government, echoed Tete’s sentiments by calling for cooperation among council members and assuring them of the government’s unwavering support in their legislative endeavors.
However, challenges loom large as Council Chairperson Daniel Jada Marcelo highlighted the pressing issue of inadequate transportation. He noted that this deficiency has significantly hindered councilors from attending legislative sessions, thus impeding their ability to fulfill their duties effectively.
“Transportation is a crucial barrier to our ability to gather and deliberate on important matters,” Hon. Jada stated, appealing for necessary provisions to enhance mobility for all councilors.
The inauguration of the Juba County Legislative Council signals a renewed commitment to responsive governance and community engagement as local leaders seek to elevate the living standards and overall welfare of their constituents. The road ahead may be fraught with challenges, but the council’s leadership remains determined to champion progress and inclusivity in Juba County.
