In press conference held in Juba on Thursday 14th March 2024, the Chairman of Luacjang Community for Development, Lt. Gen. Hith Mathew Mathiang Magourdit, has vehemently denied any involvement in an alleged death threat towards Hon. Awut Deng Acuil, a sitting National Minister of General Education and Instructions and TNLA MP representing Tonj East County.
According to Magourdit , the community was taken aback by the shocking media-covered allegation of a death threat on the life of Hon. Awut Deng Acuil.
The community leadership emphasized that the press release has raised questions about the motive and content of the statement, prompting them to call for calm and promise a peaceful and responsible response after analyzing the statement.
The leadership further clarified that Luacjang Community is not aware of any feud with Hon. Awut that would warrant a death threat.
They highlighted that the community is known for being well-organized, disciplined, and peaceful, where the rule of law prevails. Additionally, they pointed out that the community does not harbor any animosity towards Hon. Awut, as evidenced by their support for her as their MP since 2016.
Furthermore, the community emphasized that they operate as a registered legal entity and openly communicate through trusted avenues, making it erroneous and unacceptable to label such baseless accusations on the entire community. They deemed the unverified accusation and generalization as a character assassination and damaging to the good image of Luacjang community.
Luacjang Community demanded that Hon. Awut produce an official letter written by the community threatening to kill her, asserting that there was no such letter issued by any legitimate body.
The response from the Luacjang Community aims to clarify their stance and disassociate themselves from the alleged death threat, while also calling for a more responsible approach to addressing such sensitive matters.
