Minister Akol Stresses the Vital Role of Information in Building Resilience Against Vulnerability

In a recent address at the National Coordination Operations Center in Juba, Minister Albino Akol Atak underscored the significance of access to information in reducing vulnerability in South Sudan. Minister Akol emphasized the importance of acquiring data as a key priority for effective disaster management and preparedness.
Drawing on insights from international experiences, Minister Akol highlighted the lessons learned from countries like Bangladesh, which faces a myriad of natural disasters. He noted that by learning from such examples, South Sudan can better equip itself to address its own challenges, including floods, droughts, and conflicts.
He stressed the crucial role of early access to information in disaster preparedness, citing the early warning program as a fundamental step in mitigating risks and enhancing the country’s resilience.
