South Sudan United Front Denies Allegations of Joining SPLM-IO

In a media statement, the South Sudan United Front/Army-Nairobi Declaration (SSUF/A-ND), led by Chairman & Commander-In-Chief Maj. General Dickson Gatluak Jock Nyuot, has strongly refuted claims that it has joined the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – In – Opposition (SPLM/A-10) under Dr. Riek Machar.

“We categorically deny these allegations and affirm that SSUF/A-ND remains committed and loyal to our cause under our leadership,” stated Maj. Gen. Dickson Gatluak Jock.

The denial comes in response to reports that Brig. General Tut Ruach Jith, who commands forces in Maiwut, had defected during a short visit to Juba last month, accompanied by only three officers. However, the remaining forces at Nyoplew remain dedicated to SSUF/A-ND.

Expressing dismay at the alleged facilitation of defections by SPLM-IO during the peace implementation process, SSUF/A-ND condemned such actions, particularly in light of the recent peace agreement signed with the government of the Republic of South Sudan.

“We are committed to the provisions outlined in the January 28th, 2023 agreement with the government of South Sudan. Our aim is to work towards peace and cooperation with the ruling party, recognizing that stability cannot be achieved through defections,” emphasized Maj. Gen. Dickson.

The statement urged for patience and understanding as the organization continues to implement the peace process with the government, emphasizing that peace requires time, tolerance, and mutual understanding.
