South Sudan’s Minister of Youth, Culture, and Sports Focuses on Sports Development for the Nation’s Youngsters

Hon. Dr. Joseph Geng Akech, the esteemed Minister of Youth, Culture, and Sports in South Sudan, recently held a productive meeting with representatives from Mothering Across Continent (MAC) and NewGen Peace Builders (NGP). 

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss important matters such as youth empowerment, peacebuilding, education, and opportunities for young entrepreneurs in the country.

During the meeting, MAC and NGP had the opportunity to share their respective visions, ongoing projects, and planned initiatives with the honorable minister. 

One of the key initiatives highlighted was the upcoming Youth Peace Summit, which aims to bring together young people from different backgrounds to engage in meaningful dialogue and promote peace within their communities. Additionally, the organizations discussed the Peace Innovation Challenge, which encourages young entrepreneurs to develop innovative solutions that contribute to peacebuilding efforts. Lastly, the Peace Education Program, designed to provide young people with the necessary skills and knowledge to become active contributors to peace, was also a topic of discussion.

Both MAC and NGP expressed their gratitude to Hon. Dr. Joseph Geng Akech and his team for the opportunity to meet and discuss these important issues. They also conveyed their eagerness to collaborate with the government in order to achieve their shared goals. 

The minister and his Undersecretary, in turn, expressed their appreciation for the work being done by these organizations and their commitment to supporting youth involvement in the peace process.

During the meeting, the minister and Undersecretary emphasized the importance of youth empowerment for the development and social cohesion of South Sudan. They pledged their support for initiatives that promote peace through sports, recognizing the power of sports in fostering unity and promoting peaceful coexistence among young people.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continued collaboration between the government, MAC, and NGP.
