Tensions Rise as SSPDF Military Intelligence Chief Orders Arrest of Former Spy Chief
In a dramatic development, General Marshall Stephen, Chief of SSPDF Military Intelligence, has issued an order for the arrest of former Spy Chief Gen. Akol Koor Kuc, who stands accused of orchestrating a coup attempt against President Salva Kiir Mayardit.
Sources close to Gen. Marshall reveals that the directive to detain and isolate Gen. Akol Koor originated directly from President Salva Kiir earlier today. Should Gen. Akol Koor resists arrest, military forces are reportedly prepared to utilize force to secure and relocate him.
Relatives of Gen. Akol Koor has indicated that there is no formal written order from the President, contrasting with previous disarmament actions where the army had documented procedures. According to an interview conducted by Radio Miraya with the SSPDF Spokesperson, Gen. Lul Ruai Yeah, the situation, which has reportedly resumed moments ago, began around half an hour prior to the conversation.
Gen. Ruai provided insight into the incident, revealing that the shooting involved misunderstandings between different security forces assigned to provide protection at Akol Koor’s residence. “There are two levels of security in place,” he explained. “An outer protection force, which consists of a platoon deployed around his residence, and a closer protection team stationed within the compound.”
The misunderstanding between the two groups escalated to gunfire, resulting in injuries to two servicemen. In response, Chief of Defense Forces General Santino rushed to the scene to manage the situation and ordered an immediate ceasefire. “An investigation into the exact circumstances of this incident will be conducted tomorrow,” Gen. Ruai stated.
