23-Years-Old Radio Innovator Plans to Upgrade Radio System

In an exclusive interview with Alhuriya, Mr. Andrew Angelo Atoroba, the Director of Peace FM (Zereda Radio) in Yambio, announced his plans to upgrade his radio system.
At just 23 years old, Atoroba made waves in the industry seven years ago when he created an FM radio. Now, he is determined to take his radio station to the next level.
“I have set myself up to change my whole system from a box to a real radio with timbers and a well-organized structure,” Atoroba stated.
However, he faces a few challenges in achieving his goal.
“The only challenge I am facing is finding a building or room for this radio, as well as the funds to employ presenters, reporters, and news anchors for Peace FM Yambio 108.0 FM.”
Atoroba is appealing to the government, partners, and all well-wishers to support his efforts in expanding the coverage of his radio station.
“I need assistance in covering a 10-kilometer square in Yambio Town Municipality. I currently lack a solar or generator, and I have no space to store my equipment,” he explained.
Atoroba’s journey in radio innovation began in 2016 when he was just a primary school student.
“I was asked by my teacher to provide a handcrafted art project, and that’s when I discovered my talent for building things. I created an airplane in Tambura County,” he shared.
This is not Atoroba’s first venture into radio station creation.
“This is my fifth radio station, as the previous one was unfortunately stolen, resulting in the loss of all my equipment,” he lamented.
As the CEO of the local radio station, St. Tereza FM, Atoroba is already making a positive impact.
“We cover 60 households and operate on battery power. However, the frequency of the radio is not stable, with it fluctuating between 108.5 and 106.5,” he explained.
Atoroba’s radio station focuses on programs related to peace, education, agriculture, church affairs, and culture.
“All that I am doing is through the gift given to me by God. I am a man of God, and I trust in myself. This is a gift from God Almighty,” Atoroba proudly stated.
He continued appealing to the government, partners, and well-wishers to support his radio station’s expansion.
