Deputy Mayor Thiik Thiik Faces Criticism as Citizens Question Accusations

By Majur Chol Khor

Juba – Deputy Mayor for Social Services at Juba City Council, Thiik Thiik Mayardit, finds himself embroiled in controversy as citizens criticize his recent accusations against CES Commissioner General of the State Insurance Regulatory Authority, Latio Ramba. Mayardit has alleged that Ramba received bribes to obstruct justice for 10 South Sudanese nationals whose contracts were terminated by the UAP insurance company last year.

Although Mayardit had ordered the shutdown of UAP company late last year, citizens are questioning why this never materialized. Mayardit claims to possess evidence to support his allegations against Ramba, further adding fuel to the debate surrounding the issue.

In addition to targeting Ramba, Mayardit has also called out Minister of Labour James Hoth Mai and the Undersecretary for the Ministry of Labour, stating that they have failed South Sudanese and demanding their removal from their positions. Furthermore, Mayardit has urged Governor Emmanuel Adil to sack Latio Ramba from his post.

However, some citizens argue that the UAP issue has not been addressed according to protocol. They believe that the employees who laid down their tools should have followed the appropriate channels to present their grievances rather than resorting to accusations of bribery. These critics question Mayardit’s approach and suggest that he is attempting to claim victory without substantial evidence.

The debate surrounding Mayardit’s actions has led to a divide among the public. Supporters commend his efforts to fight corruption and protect the rights of South Sudanese workers. However, others remain skeptical, raising doubts about the legitimacy and transparency of his accusations.

As the controversy continues, citizens eagerly await responses from the accused parties. They hope for clarity and transparency in the resolution of this matter. It is essential to address these allegations promptly and through proper channels to maintain trust and ensure justice for all parties involved.
