Governor of Warrap State Tours Aguka Payam to Assess Security Situation and Address Challenges Faced by Bongo Community

In a significant move towards addressing the needs of the Bongo Community in Warrap State, the Governor of Warrap State, Hon. Kuol Muor Muor, recently toured Aguka Payam in Tonj South County. The visit aimed to assess the security situation and challenges faced by the community.

During his address to the gathering, Governor Kuol described the Bongo community as one of the most peaceful communities in Warrap State, acknowledging their resilience and patience despite being the most isolated community for decades without receiving the special services they deserve. He encouraged them to continue their peaceful coexistence and pledged one Ambulance for the community to cater to health services and one Motorcycle to the SPLM Secretary in the Payam.

The Commissioner of Tonj South County, Hon. Agor Malang Agor, expressed gratitude to the Bongo Community for their unity and togetherness, urging them to maintain the spirit of peace. Additionally, the Area MP, Lino Depala, thanked the Governor and his delegation for making the effort to visit Aguka Payam, highlighting the community’s isolation in various aspects at both the State and national level.

Local chiefs, community elders, youth, and women representatives took the opportunity to voice out their challenges, including the lack of adequate water, healthcare services, and educational facilities in the area. The Bongo Community warmly appreciated Governor Kuol Muor Muor for his historic visit, making him the fourth Governor to reach Aguka Payam since 2008.

Accompanying Governor Kuol on this important visit were key officials, including the State Minister of Information and Communications Hon. William Wol Mayom, Minister of Health Dr. Barac Malith Atem, State Minister of Public Service Hon. John Deng Madut, State MPS, head of independent commission, State SPLM Secretary, community elders, and Head of Security Forces.

The Governor’s visit signifies a step towards addressing the challenges faced by the Bongo Community and highlights the commitment of the state government to improve the lives of marginalized communities in Warrap State.
