South Sudan Civil Society Alliance Lauds Government Initiatives to Tackle Economic Challenges
Mr. Debak Mabior Arok, the Executive Director of the South Sudan Civil Society Alliance, has commended the government’s proactive policies aimed at addressing economic hurdles in the nation. In a statement released yesterday, Arok highlighted the significance of agriculture in combating hunger and fostering self-sufficiency, praising the government’s focus on agricultural development.
“We welcome the government of South Sudan’s commitment to overcoming economic challenges through agriculture,” stated Arok. “Investing in agriculture not only ensures food security but also stimulates economic growth and empowers local communities.”
The recent introduction of an electronic system by the Bank of South Sudan to modernize the banking sector has also garnered appreciation from the Civil Society Alliance. Arok emphasized the importance of efficient banking systems in facilitating financial transactions, boosting investment, and driving economic progress.
While expressing support for these initiatives, Arok underscored the need for further improvements in the energy sector and infrastructure to bolster economic activities. He stressed the importance of establishing refineries for oil production to support business ventures and enhance economic stability in South Sudan.
In acknowledging the efforts of law enforcement agencies, Arok recognized the contributions of the police inspector general in cracking down on black market activities. However, he emphasized that sustained economic growth requires robust policies, transparent institutions, and effective implementation strategies.
Arok concluded by affirming the South Sudan Civil Society Alliance’s belief that sound economic policies and institutional transparency are pivotal in addressing the nation’s economic challenges and fostering sustainable growth. The call for comprehensive reforms resonates as a clarion for a brighter economic future in South Sudan, underpinned by accountability, innovation, and inclusive development initiatives.
