MTN South Sudan Launches ICT Center for Visually Impaired Persons and Women’s Union in Juba

MTN South Sudan made a significant contribution to empowering marginalized communities by launching an ICT center for visually impaired persons in Central Equatoria State, Juba. The unveiling of this center marks a milestone in providing access to digital technology for visually impaired individuals.

Ali Monzer, CEO of MTN South Sudan, highlighted the importance of this initiative in his address, stating, “The ten desktop computers donated by MTN will enhance the capacity of visually impaired individuals to access the internet and apply for online jobs.” He emphasized that the center will also offer training in basic computer skills to empower visually impaired persons to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

Expressing gratitude towards MTN South Sudan, Mandela Isaac praised the telecom company for their donation of desktop computers to the Union of Visually Impaired Persons in Central Equatoria State. Mandela emphasized that the center’s impact will extend beyond visually impaired individuals to support all people with disabilities in the region, calling for continued collaboration between MTN and such unions nationwide.

In a parallel effort to empower women entrepreneurs, MTN South Sudan also donated ten desktop computers to the Central Equatoria Women’s Union. Ali Monzer urged women entrepreneurs to utilize the computers to create online business platforms and expand their reach to international markets.

Jane Gordon Sworo, Executive Director of the Women Entrepreneurs Association, commended the partnership between MTN and the women’s union, describing the computer donation as a testament to corporate social responsibility. She encouraged women groups to unite and focus on business endeavors to provide support for their families.

The launch of these ICT centers attracted government officials from the National Communication Authority and the Central Equatoria State Government, underscoring the importance of such initiatives in promoting inclusive growth and opportunities for underrepresented groups in society.
