Youths in Nzara County Call for Support for Flood Victims

The youths from Nzara County took to social media to appeal for immediate assistance for flood victims in Western Equatoria State, South Sudan.
Recent heavy rainfall has caused the Yubu and Nzara Rivers to overflow, leading to widespread flooding in the area. The natural vulnerability of the land has worsened the situation, resulting in significant destruction, including the loss of homes, food supplies, and other valuable possessions.
Hundreds of residents, including women, children, and people living with disabilities, have been severely impacted. Many families are now homeless, facing extreme hunger, and lacking access to clean water and essential supplies. The most vulnerable members of our society, particularly those with disabilities, are in desperate need of urgent assistance as they struggle to cope with the aftermath of this disaster.
The loss of homes, the destruction of food stocks, and the washing away of essential resources have left Nzara County in a state of emergency. The humanitarian needs are immense, and local efforts have been overwhelmed by the sheer scale of the crisis.
Mr. Joseph Arkangelo Apai, a concerned citizen from Nzara County, is calling on the Government of South Sudan, international organizations, and national NGOs to act swiftly in response to this disaster. He urgently outlines the following needs:
Temporary shelters for displaced families, especially those with vulnerable members such as women, children, and persons with disabilities.
Food supplies and clean water to prevent hunger and waterborne diseases.
Medical support, including basic healthcare and disease prevention, especially for those with special needs.
Long-term support to rebuild homes and restore livelihoods, helping communities recover from the loss of valuable items and properties.
