Mr. Edmund Yakani, Executive Director of the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), has stressed the importance of establishing a committee dedicated to monitoring the implementation of decisions adopted during the 8th Governors Forum. He advocates for a committee that is inclusive and adequately empowered to assist governors in developing state-specific implementation plans tailored to their resolutions and recommendations.

“This platform serves as an excellent opportunity for fostering intergovernmental collaboration, provided that its decisions are taken seriously by both national and state governments,” Mr. Yakani remarked.

CEPO is urging the President to facilitate the formation of this inclusive committee, emphasizing the need for effective tracking of the resolutions and recommendations borne out of the 8th Governors Forum. The organization expresses keen interest in garnering support from the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) to aid state governors in crafting these implementation plans.

“We believe our efforts will be greatly enhanced in monitoring the performance of state and administrative area governments in executing the decisions made during the forum,” Mr. Yakani added.

In closing, CEPO extends its gratitude to all stakeholders who contributed to the success of the 8th Governors Forum. Furthermore, it encourages these actors to adopt a results-oriented approach and to insist on the implementation of the forum’s decisions by national, state, and administrative area governments.
