In the vibrant heart of Juba, as the Nile flows steadily and the city buzzes with anticipation, a historic event is unfolding. On the eve of South Sudan’s 14th Independence Day, international music star Rayvanny has arrived in the capital—not just to perform, but to stand in solidarity with South Sudanese youth, artists, and peace advocates. The occasion promises to be a memorable celebration of culture, unity, and national pride.

A press conference held on July 8 brought together journalists, local artists, and organizers for an open dialogue featuring Rayvanny and renowned South Sudanese media personality Regina Carlo, who is instrumental in orchestrating the Independence Day festivities. Both emphasized that this event transcends entertainment — it’s a powerful call for peace and unity.

“This Year Is Important to All of Us,” Regina Carlo Highlights

Regina Carlo opened the discussion by reflecting on the significance of this year’s celebrations.

“This year is very important for John [FroGg], and it’s important for all of us,” she said. “It marks 14 years of independence. Despite social media narratives about insecurity or division, this event is about uniting as one nation.”

She underscored that the celebration aims to bring together people of different tribes and communities, emphasizing that the event is more than just a concert. It’s a message of hope, peace, and shared identity.

“Don’t just come to support John FroGg,” Regina urged. “Come to celebrate yourselves. Leave tribalism aside. Through music and unity, we can speak peace.”

Rayvanny, an artist renowned for performances at the BET Awards and global festivals, shared his personal motivation for coming to Juba.

“I got a call from John,” Rayvanny explained. “He asked me to join him, and when I heard his vision, I knew it aligned with my values. I had to come.”

His presence is a testament to Pan-African brotherhood and the unifying power of music. He expressed warmth and openness to the local culture.

“There’s been so much love since I arrived,” he said with a smile. “From the airport to now, everyone has made me feel welcome. Marhaba! Ana fi bet!”

The crowd responded with laughter and applause, appreciating his effort to embrace local language and customs.

The event also marks a significant milestone in South Sudanese artist John FroGg’s career. Despite facing criticism and online backlash, Regina highlighted his resilience.

“John has been one of the most criticized artists in South Sudan,” she said. “But he persisted. This event is a way to give back to his supporters and showcase his growth.”

Regina emphasized that the celebration aims to reshape perceptions of South Sudan, highlighting peace, talent, and cultural pride.

“This show is for the youth and for those tired of hearing that South Sudan is only about war or tribalism. Peace begins with us.”

Rayvanny revealed that his mission extends beyond the stage. He’s eager to collaborate with local artists to foster cultural exchange.

“I told my manager I need a studio in my room,” he shared. “I want to work with South Sudanese artists. This is just the beginning. We can blend our cultures and elevate East African music globally.”

He also expressed excitement about meeting South Sudanese female artist Suzenado, hinting at future collaborations.

“Suzy Nado, I’m looking for you!” he said with a grin.

With the event imminent, organizers promise an energetic, emotional, and inspiring celebration.

“Expect magic,” Rayvanny said. “Expect vibrant performances, cultural displays, and a powerful atmosphere. It’s going to be something special.”

Regina added that the festivities will include dance performances, food vendors, supporting acts, and extensive media coverage. Most importantly, she stressed the importance of unity and safety.

“We’ve taken all necessary measures to ensure a safe, family-friendly event. Bring your grandma, bring your friends—just come and enjoy yourselves.”

Throughout the briefing, a clear message emerged: South Sudan is ready to tell its own story of resilience, talent, and hope.

“When I couldn’t come last time, people said it was unsafe,” Rayvanny shared. “But I’m here now, and I see how welcoming and safe this place is.”

His presence, along with the collaborative spirit of the event, sends a powerful message across the region: South Sudan is not just surviving—it’s thriving on its own terms.

As July 9 approaches, excitement continues to grow. For many, this isn’t just a concert—it’s a movement. A moment to dance, celebrate, and reaffirm pride in 14 years of independence.
