Urgent Communication from SPLM/A-IO: SSPDF Launches Surprise Attack on Cantonment Site

The Office of the Acting Chairman and Commander-in-Chief of the SPLM/A-IO has issued an urgent communication regarding a hostile incident involving the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF).
In the early hours of today, at approximately 0500 hours, the SSPDF launched a surprise attack on the SPLA-IO cantonment site located in Ri-Rangu. The assault led to the capture of Base Commander Lt. Gen. Alfred Futuyo Karaba, who was performing his official duties at the time.
“This action constitutes a serious violation of existing security arrangements, ceasefire commitments, and established military protocols,” stated the acting chairman in an official message to the sector and division commanders.
All commanders have been directed to remain on high alert. “It is imperative that we maintain discipline among our troops, avoid any unauthorized retaliation, and report developments through proper command channels,” the message emphasized.
The SPLM/A-IO leadership is actively assessing the situation and will engage with relevant stakeholders at the national, regional, and international levels for further guidance.
“May we remain united, vigilant, and committed to protecting our people and the principles for which we stand,” the statement concluded.
