In a match that was intended to promote awareness for the Wau power project, Al Ghazala FC clashed against Al Amal Elhora FC in what started off as an intense battle on the pitch. Al Amal Elhora FC took an early lead through a stunning volley, inviting cheers from their supporters. However, Al Ghazala FC quickly responded with a well-executed throw-in that found the back of the net, equalizing the score.

The game took a dramatic turn when disputes arose over a contentious goal, leading to the expulsion of Al Amal Elhora FC’s head coach and a yellow card for their assistant coach. Despite the tensions, the match continued until the first half ended with a 1-1 draw.

Unexpectedly, Al Amal Elhora FC decided to withdraw from the game, citing concerns over the fairness of the officiating. This premature end sparked discussions among fans and analysts about the club’s sportsmanship.

Following the withdrawal, Al Ghazala FC split into two teams, mixing players from Trinity Energy Ltd to complete the remaining 45 minutes. What followed was a frenzy of goals, culminating in a penalty shootout where Al Ghazala FC, sporting their club’s jersey, emerged victorious over the Trinity Energy jersey-clad team with a 4-3 scoreline.

Dr. Philip Warden, the Wau Power Project Manager, commended the initiative, stating, “The launch of the sensitisation campaign for the Wau Power Project represents a crucial milestone for Trinity Energy and underscores our commitment to driving positive change in South Sudan.”
