CEPO Urges Political Leaders to Embrace Unity Amidst Tensions from Tumaini Peace Process
In a recent statement, Mr. Edmund Yakani, the Executive Director of the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO), highlighted the importance of using unity as demonstrated through sports to foster political unity amidst the challenges arising from the Tumaini peace process in Nairobi.
Mr. Yakani expressed concerns over the current political atmosphere characterized by rumors, hostile propaganda, and negativity towards the political transitional process. He emphasized the need for urgent decisions from the presidency to address these issues and steer the country towards a more cohesive and peaceful political landscape.
“The trend of rumors and hostile propaganda is creating a serious political dilemma, casting doubt on the success of the Tumaini Peace process. It is essential for the leadership to combat these negative attitudes that only serve to prolong the suffering of citizens,” Mr. Yakani stated.
Furthermore, Mr. Yakani pointed out that the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (RTGONU) faces challenges in establishing political legitimacy beyond September 22nd, 2024, without the successful implementation of the Tumaini initiative. He stressed that the Tumaini peace process provides a clear opportunity for implementing a viable political transitional process in the country.
As tensions continue to escalate, Mr. Yakani’s call for political leaders to prioritize unity and collaboration serves as a reminder of the importance of working together towards a harmonious and stable political future for the nation.
