Juba City Street Vendors Feel the Heat as Governor Adil Enforces Strict Rules
In a move to reform and modernize street vending in Juba City, Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony has implemented strict steps to reorganize the vendors. The goal is to make the city more competitive with other global cities.
Speaking to the hawkers gathered at the University of Juba site, Governor Emmanuel expressed his gratitude to the vendors for following the government’s directives. He called for continued cooperation as the authorities work to relocate the vendors to the newly designated ‘Jama Juba Market’.
However, the governor also issued a warning to those who defy the order to vacate the streets. He stated that they would face the full force of the law after the 72-hour ultimatum expires.
The Mayor of Juba City Council, H.W Flora Gabriel Modi, praised the University of Juba’s leadership for their cooperation in this endeavor. She credited Governor Adil’s steadfast leadership for making this landmark exercise possible.
The city authorities have initiated this reform to ensure the free flow of traffic and the safety of city dwellers as they go about their daily business activities.
Governor Emmanuel was accompanied by the State Minister of Roads and Bridges, Hon. Mawa A. Moses, as well as the three Deputy Mayors of Administration and Finance, Social Services, and Environment and Waste Management. Local government administrative officers and security apparatus were also present.
