Juba County Commissioner, Emmanuel Ezbon, Encourages Lokiliri Residents to Develop and Protect their Environment

In a heartfelt plea to the residents of Lokiliri Payam, Hon. Eng. Emmanuel Ezbon Teta urged the community to prioritize the development and protection of their land and environment in the wake of harmful practices. Speaking during a memorial prayer held in Lokiliri Payam, the County Commissioner emphasized the critical role of trees and the detrimental impact of indiscriminate tree-cutting and deforestation on the environment.

Hon. Ezbon stressed the importance of unity and solidarity among the people of South Sudan, highlighting that sustainable development and environmental preservation hinge on collective effort and togetherness within society. He urged the residents to band together in fostering a culture of love and harmony to pave the way for progress and rehabilitation in the region.

Offering his condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the tragic incident that claimed eight lives in 2022, Hon. Ezbon expressed sympathy and called for strength and faith in the face of adversity. He encouraged the bereaved families to find solace in prayer, seeking comfort and protection from the divine.

Reflecting on the past tragedy, Juma Katanga, the director of Lokiliri Payam, lamented the loss of promising youths at a crucial juncture for the community. The 2022 incident reverberated across the region, drawing collective shock and mourning from government officials in Central Equatoria State, South Sudan, and beyond. Katanga voiced optimism that the memory of the victims would inspire reconciliation and goodwill among Lokiliri residents moving forward.

The commemorative event brought together esteemed figures such as Juma Katanga, Lokiliri Payam director, Father Johnson, CES government representatives, Bishop Paul Benjamin Yugosuk of the CES internal province, and other dignitaries. The attendees gathered to honor the lives of the eight individuals whose untimely deaths continue to resonate in the community.
