Malakal CSOs Urge Aid, Peace Talks After Nasir Incident in South Sudan

The Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) Network in Malakal has issued a statement expressing profound concern over the recent incident in Nasir County, South Sudan, which occurred on February 14, 2025. The network is calling for immediate humanitarian assistance and a commitment to peaceful resolution following reports of displacement, loss of life, and disruption of livelihoods.
The CSOs Network, in a press release issued on Sunday stated their solidarity with the affected communities and highlighted the urgent need for support. Reports from humanitarian actors and local observers indicate that the situation in Nasir has led to increased humanitarian needs, including food, shelter, and medical assistance.
“We urge all stakeholders, including humanitarian organizations, faith leaders, and community representatives, to prioritize the protection of civilians and provide immediate relief to those affected,” the statement read.
The CSOs Network, known for its dedication to peacebuilding and community resilience, emphasized the importance of nonviolent conflict resolution, dialogue, and reconciliation efforts to prevent further suffering. They appealed to all parties involved to engage in peaceful dialogue and uphold the values of coexistence and mutual respect.
Furthermore, the network urged the Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring Mechanism (CTSAMVM) to conduct an independent investigation into the recurring incidents and provide an accurate report to support peace and accountability.
The CSOs Network concluded its statement by reaffirming its commitment to working alongside communities, religious leaders, and peace partners to foster unity, provide humanitarian assistance, and implement long-term peacebuilding initiatives.
