MTN South Sudan Launches International Money Remittance Service, Empowering Financial Inclusion

A significant step towards enhancing financial inclusion and fostering convenience in cross-border transactions, MTN South Sudan unveiled its latest offering – the International Money Remittance service. The launch of this service took place on Friday and is poised to revolutionize the way customers send and receive money both locally and internationally.

Speaking at the launch event, Albino Chol, the Commissioner of Domestic Tax at the National Revenue Authority, expressed optimism about the new service. He highlighted, “This Launch of the International Money Remittance will help us to collect more money and create an improvement through it as one of the digitized tax revenue, increasing the performance of our work.”

CEO of MTN FINTECH South Sudan, Francis Matseketsa, emphasized the convenience and efficiency that the International Money Remittance service brings. Matseketsa stated, “The launch of this latest innovation will enable customers to receive money from other countries and send money to other countries conveniently through MoMo.”

The service facilitates transfers to countries such as Uganda, Kenya, and more, with plans to expand to additional regions. Customers can now seamlessly send and receive money from various parts of the world, including North and South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia.

MTN Fintech Services Limited, a subsidiary of MTN South Sudan and a licensed Mobile Money (MoMo) operator, plays a pivotal role in contributing to South Sudan’s economic development agenda through digital financial inclusion initiatives.

Denis Lejugbo, responsible for Brand and Marketing at MTN, highlighted the benefits of the International Money Remittance service. Lejugbo mentioned, “MTN Fintech International Money Remittance will allow MTN subscribers to send and receive money within and outside the country.” He also noted that the new technology services by MTN provide customers with the opportunity to register for MTN MoMo simply by dialing *200#.

The launch of MTN South Sudan’s International Money Remittance service signifies a major leap towards a more interconnected and inclusive financial landscape, empowering individuals with seamless and efficient money transfer options.
