President Kiir Tasks New Finance Minister to Boost Non-Oil Revenues
Juba – In a bid to tackle economic challenges and ensure the timely payment of salaries, President Salva Kiir Mayardit has assigned the newly appointed Minister of Finance, Dr. Marial Dongrin Ater, the crucial task of enhancing non-oil revenue collection in South Sudan.
Expressing his concern over the prolonged delay in salary payments for government employees, President Kiir emphasized the untapped potential of non-oil revenues within the country. He stressed that these revenues could adequately cover government expenditures, including crucial salaries.
President Kiir’s directive to Minister Ater includes establishing a unified revenue account and implementing stringent measures to combat corruption in the non-oil sector.
