President Kiir Urges Newly Graduated Officers to Prioritize Civilian Protection and National Security
Juba – The President of the Republic of South Sudan and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, presided over the passing-out ceremony for the 22nd and 23rd batches of the South Sudan National Police Service (SSNPS) at Dr. John Garang Mausoleum. A total of 870 officers, including graduates from the non-skills category, secondary, and university levels, were recognized during this significant event.
In his address, President Kiir emphasized the pivotal role of the police in safeguarding civilians and protecting their property. He called for a strong and positive relationship between the police and the civil population, underscoring the imperative nature of providing security for citizens. President Kiir also extended a call to all South Sudanese to unify their efforts in building a peaceful and progressive nation.
Interior Minister Angelina Teny reaffirmed the constitutional commitment to upholding safety and security for all citizens, emphasizing the fundamental importance of these principles in the nation’s governance.
Furthermore, Inspector General of Police, Gen. Atem Marol Biar, highlighted the significance of collaboration between the newly graduated cadets and the leadership of the police service in driving positive change and enhancing security at both local and national levels.
The graduation ceremony saw the inclusion of graduates with advanced academic qualifications such as Master’s degrees and certificates, demonstrating a diverse and skilled cohort ready to contribute to the welfare and security of the South Sudanese population.
The event not only marked a significant milestone for the newly graduated officers but also reflected the government’s commitment to strengthening the capacity and professionalism of the South Sudan National Police Service in its mission to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.
