South Sudan Civil Society Alliance Condemns Killings and Urges Dialogue for Peace

The South Sudan Civil Society Alliance (SSCSA) has issued a strong condemnation of the recent killings of UN personnel and Maj. Gen. David Majur Dak, alongside members of the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF).
In a press release on March 7, the SSCSA expressed profound sorrow over the loss of lives and decried the violent acts that have marred the peace process in the nation. “We are deeply concerned about the regretful loss of lives and the surge in violence,” the statement read, further condemning these atrocities and expressing heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.
The alliance welcomed a call from H.E. the President of South Sudan, urging calmness and restraint in the wake of escalating tensions. Echoing the president’s sentiments, the SSCSA appealed to the parties involved in the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS) to address outstanding issues through constructive dialogue.
“As we mourn the lives lost, we must also turn our eyes towards solutions that prioritize peace and stability for all South Sudanese,” the statement concluded, reinforcing the alliance’s commitment to advocating for a peaceful resolution to ongoing conflicts.
The SSCSA’s call for dialogue comes at a critical juncture for South Sudan, as the nation continues to grapple with the repercussions of past violence and strives toward lasting peace and unity.
