South Sudan National Movement for Change Calls for End to Confusion in Party Affairs

The South Sudan National Movement for Change (SSNMC) issued a stern call on Monday for the office of Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi Akol to cease causing confusion within the party’s internal affairs. The move comes after allegations of violations in removing party members from their positions, which the SSNMC asserts do not align with the provisions of the RARCSS 2018.
Members of the SSNMC expressed frustration that both the office of Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi and the office of Minister of Presidential Affairs, Hon Joseph Bagasi Bakasoro, have allegedly prevented members from accessing the president’s office to present petitions regarding the removal of their colleagues by Vice President Hussein.
“It is unacceptable for Bakasoro, who is not a member of SSNMC or SSOA, to meddle in the internal affairs of our party. He may involve himself in SPLM matters, but he has no place interfering in other party issues,” stated an unnamed SSNMC member.
In a press statement, the Secretary for Foreign Affairs of SSNMC, Hon Mogga Charles, urged the office of Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi to reinstate the members who were removed from their positions without clear justification from the party membership. The members further declared that given the actions of Vice President Hussein, they are considering withdrawing their vote of confidence in him.
The seventeen positions allocated to SSNMC through the 10 percent responsibility sharing agreement and internal division of positions within SSOA include roles such as the National Ministry of Public Service and Human Resource Development, multiple members of RNTLA, and various state ministry and commission positions across different states in South Sudan.
The SSNMC’s call for transparency and adherence to established party protocols aims to maintain the integrity and stability of the organization amidst ongoing challenges. The office of Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi has yet to respond to these allegations.
