In a bid to empower young people and encourage them to unleash their creativity and innovation for a brighter future, the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) in partnership with the National Ministry of Youth and Sports officially inaugurated the “Youthful Youth Program” at the Dr. Biar Sports Complex. The honorable Minister Dr. Joseph Geng Aketch delivered an inspiring message to the youth, emphasizing the importance of youth empowerment.

“Meaningful youth engagement must become the norm rather than the exception. It’s vital for our youth to seize opportunities and realize their potential,” said Minister Aketch during the launch event.

Representatives from UNFPA South Sudan also echoed the sentiment, with Resident Representative Ademola Olajide stating, “Youth is a passing phase, and young people must use it productively, build capacity, change mindset, and challenge norms in contribution to development.”

The Head of the English Programmed Department at SSBC, John Aguek, shared insights into the structure of the “Youthful Youth Program.” The program is designed to highlight the significant contributions of young South Sudanese individuals and shed light on the challenges affecting youth at various levels. Divided into five seasons, each season is tailored to address specific outcomes and engage youth in meaningful discussions.

Season 1, titled “Founder Experience,” will showcase the achievements of young individuals spearheading initiatives positively impacting youth. Season 2, “I am an entrepreneur,” will emphasize the role of young entrepreneurs in economic advancement. Season 3, “Story for Glory,” will share inspirational life journeys of young achievers. Season 4 will focus on discussing critical youth issues like drug addiction, aiming to develop solutions. The final season will delve into the role of youth in elections.

Minister Akech also challenged the youth to embrace peace, highlighting that prosperity is intrinsically linked to peace. The launch event at the Dr. Biar Sports Complex marks a significant step towards harnessing the potential of South Sudan’s youth and fostering a vibrant culture of innovation and progress.
