Taban Paride Lokasmoi Wins South Sudan National Youth Union Chairperson Position in Tightly Contested Election

In a thrilling conclusion to the South Sudan national youth union elections, Taban Paride Lokasmoi emerged victorious as the new chairperson after securing 48 votes. The well-fought race saw Lokasmoi facing tough competition from William Mapuor Marial, who narrowly trailed with 46 votes.

The election, which saw a total of 137 delegates present, witnessed a high turnout with 129 delegates exercising their right to vote. However, there were 4 invalid votes, leaving 125 valid votes that decided the outcome.

Lokasmoi’s victory, with 48% of the valid votes, reflects the confidence and support he garnered from the youth union members. William Mapuor Marial’s strong performance, securing 37% of the votes, showcased the keen competition that characterized the election.

Other candidates in the running, Emmanuel Ladu Kose, Abiyare Lawrence, Bush Buse Laku, and John Angeth Kenyi, also put up a commendable effort, receiving 9%, 4%, 6%, and 6% of the votes respectively.

Taban Paride Lokasmoi’s win signals a new chapter for the South Sudan national youth union, with expectations high for positive and impactful leadership under his guidance.
