Unity State Legislative Assembly Speaker Raises Concerns Over Delayed Salary Increments

In a recent open letter addressed to Dr. Bak Chol, the National Minister of Finance and Planning, Ustaz Ngier Bahnguot Najaang, Speaker of the Unity State Transitional Legislative Assembly, expressed his surprise and concern over the delayed implementation of a 400% increment in civil servants’ wages. This increment was meant to apply to national jobs and work in the states and three administrative areas of the Republic of South Sudan.

The letter questioned the reasons behind the delay and what had happened to the promised wage increase.

It also highlighted the fact that civil servants across the Republic have been eagerly awaiting the payment of their 2023 salary arrears. The delay has had a significant impact on the lives of many civil servants and their families, as they were unable to celebrate the past two Christmas festivals and the beginning of the new year.

The Unity State Legislative Assembly Speaker emphasized the importance of timely payment of salaries, especially during challenging times when families rely on these wages for their basic needs.

He called on the Ministry of Finance and Planning to address this issue urgently and ensure that civil servants receive their rightful wages without further delay.

The delayed salary increments have caused frustration and disappointment among civil servants, who have been eagerly anticipating the promised increase.

The Unity State Legislative Assembly Speaker’s open letter serves as a reminder to the government of its responsibility to prioritize the welfare of its employees and fulfill its commitments to them.
