In a decisive move to protect state-owned properties, Acting Governor Hon. Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa has issued a strict warning against the illegal sale and unauthorized construction on public land. The governor’s statement underscores the government’s commitment to reclaiming and safeguarding land designated for state use and development.

Emphasizing the persistent issue of land disputes in the state, Governor Badagbu declared, “No public land, no government land, and no ministry land will be allowed to be turned into shops or any private business.” He vowed to revoke any previously approved decisions that facilitate the conversion of government land into commercial properties, stressing the importance of maintaining public access routes for transportation and logistics.

“Very soon, we will overturn any decision that permits the construction of shops on roads within the market,” the acting governor further stated, asserting the government’s intention to restore order and protect the integrity of public spaces.

In a push for transparency and fairness, the Western Equatoria State government plans to implement a lawful land management system. This system aims to ensure that all matters related to land ownership and usage are conducted in the interest of the citizens of Western Equatoria.

Highlighting the connection between security and peace, Governor Badagbu reassured the public that the government’s priority remains the protection of all citizens. He specifically noted the importance of security in areas such as Tonga, Niger, Ketiba in Mundi East, Minga, Rakampa, and Lakamadi. “Peace cannot thrive without security. The government is committed to safeguarding every citizen and ensuring stability across the state,” he stated.

The acting governor’s firm stance on land management and public safety marks a significant development toward addressing long-standing challenges in Western Equatoria, paving the way for sustainable growth and stability in the region.
