Western Equatoria State community has been warned to refrain from hate speech, regardless of their tribes. The warning comes as the community gathers for the greater Burekiwe conference, which aims to discuss sustainable development in the region.

During the opening ceremony of the conference, the Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State emphasized the importance of avoiding hate speech, stating that it can hinder development and lead to violence. He urged the community to come together and move forward without hatred or tribalism.

Dr. Kennedy, the State SPLM chairman, also called for the protection of greater Burekiwe from Amboro Normed, a group known for causing problems for farmers in the area. He stressed the need to empower traditional leaders and address the issue of land grabbing, which affects the people of greater Burekiwe.

According to Dr. Kennedy, the land act states that citizens should have one plot unless they choose to buy additional plots legally. He encouraged the audience to support their paramount chiefs and empower them to intervene in land-related matters.

In addition, Dr. Kennedy called on all political parties, including SPLM, OPP, and SPLM-IO, to come together and contribute their ideas for the development of Burekiwe, rather than engaging in hate speech.

The greater Burekiwe initiative was launched last year with the goal of improving service delivery at various levels of government. The conference brings together representatives from the greater Yambio and Nzara Counties to discuss unity and development in the region.
