Yei Joint Stars FC Secure Hat-Trick Victory in South Sudan National Women’s Cup 2023/2024

Yei Joint Stars FC have once again emerged victorious in the South Sudan National Women’s Cup, claiming their third consecutive title in a thrilling final at the Bulluk Playground in Juba on Tuesday, 30th April 2024.
The journey to the top was not without its challenges for the club, with notable incidents including a petition against Bentiu City SC and later against Munuki FC Juba W. Despite setbacks, the determined Yei Joint Stars FC persevered and showcased their resilience on the field.
In a display of skill and teamwork, Namugeye Rahma Cosmos opened the scoring early in the match with a remarkable strike from outside the box. Sarah Night sealed the victory with two more goals, ensuring the defending champions retained their crown.
Sarah Night’s standout performance earned her the MVP award, while Coach Sony Harriet, Captain Mary Dawa, and Goalkeeper Tereza Nawal were recognized as the best coach, best player, and best goalkeeper of the tournament, respectively.
The runners-up, Tiger United FC from Aweil, put up a valiant effort but ultimately settled for the silver medals. Anyiet Wek Maduok of Tigers claimed the Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer.
During the awards ceremony, Al Wehida FC received the Bronze medals for their third-place finish, while Al Hilal FC from Wau, who finished fourth, were honored with the Fair Play award.
Despite facing injuries and adversity, Yei Joint Stars FC’s unwavering determination and exceptional talent shone through, solidifying their status as the undisputed champions of the South Sudan National Women’s Cup.
