Government Aims to Bring Urban Amenities to Rural Areas, Says South Sudan’s Vice President

JUBA – In a bid to revitalize rural communities and promote investment opportunities at home, the South Sudanese government announced its goal to bring urban amenities to the countryside. The announcement was made by H.E Dr. James Wani Igga, the Vice President for the Economic Cluster, during the grand opening ceremony of Doru Guest House in Loggo Rajaf East Payam, Central Equatoria State.

Addressing the audience at the inauguration event, Vice President Igga expressed his commitment to the development of rural areas and encouraged the people of Loggo Rajaf East to return and invest in their hometown.

“With this development, we hope to inspire our fellow citizens to come back and contribute to the growth of their community,” he remarked.

Igga also applauded Jamal Wani, the initiator of the project, for his efforts in promoting development in the region.

Highlighting the significance of Loggo Rajaf East, Igga envisioned the area as a future tourist attraction and a thriving center for various events and activities.

“Whether you like it or not, this place will become a hub for weddings, public rallies, and weekend getaways. Its picturesque green environment will undoubtedly draw visitors,” stated Vice President Igga, further urging the youth of Loggo Rajaf East to take an active role in developing their homeland.

Hon. Alex Lokiyu, the Minister of Wildlife and Tourism for Central Equatoria State, acknowledged the challenges faced in establishing tourist attractions in the region.

He emphasized the importance of overcoming insecurities and land disputes to foster development. Lokiyu encouraged local investors like Jamal Wani to invest in infrastructure projects, citing tourism as a lucrative industry with the potential for job creation and economic growth.

Lokiyu further appealed to South Sudan’s business leaders and entrepreneurs to support government efforts in developing the tourism sector. Acknowledging the high unemployment rate among graduates, he emphasized the need for job opportunities and called on banks to provide financial support and loans to young entrepreneurs.

Meanwhile, Hon. Cilisio Zachariah, the Minister for General Education and Instructions of Central Equatoria State, stressed the role of education in achieving developmental milestones. He urged the people of Loggo Rajaf East to prioritize education and embrace developmental initiatives similar to Jamal Wani’s investment in their community.
