President Kiir Travel to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

President Salva Kiir Mayardit embarked on a crucial journey yesterday as he headed to the capital of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, to participate in the 37th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Heads of State Assembly. This high-profile gathering will delve into pressing matters such as peace, security, and development, which greatly impact the African continent.

Lily Adhieu Martin, the Press Secretary, highlighted the significance of this summit in addressing fundamental issues affecting Africa. The assembly will provide a platform for leaders to engage in fruitful discussions and seek effective solutions to promote stability and progress across the region.

President Kiir, who also serves as the Chairperson of the East African Community, will utilize this opportunity to hold sideline meetings with fellow East African Community Heads of State as well as leaders from the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). The discussions will primarily focus on the ongoing crisis in Sudan as well as regional peace and security concerns.

In a show of support and solidarity, First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar, alongside other government officials, bid farewell to President Kiir at the Juba International Airport. This departure marks the beginning of an important journey that aims to foster collaboration and cooperation among African leaders to tackle significant challenges head-on.
