In a recent development, Munuki FC Juba’s appeal against the decision of the Organizing Committee of the South Sudan Women’s National Cup has been rejected by the Higher Appeals Committee of the South Sudan Football Association.

The appeal lodged by Munuki FC Juba centered around the participation of player Ariye Atiba Mercy from Yei Joint Stars FC in a match held on 21/4/2024. The committee reviewed documents provided by Munuki FC, including the player’s registration with the local football association of Yei and the statement from the Ugandan Federation.

The committee found that there were violations in the player’s registration process, as she was registered with Yei Joint Stars FC without obtaining the necessary approval from the South Sudan Football Association. Additionally, it was revealed that the player had previously been registered with the Ugandan Maroon team for the 2019-2020 season.

Based on the regulations outlined in the South Sudan Football Association’s General Regulations, the Higher Appeals Committee made the following decisions:

1. Rejecting the appeal due to the registration violation being over a year old.

2. Upholding the decision of the Organizing Committee of the SSFA.

3. Confirming the result of the match as 2-1 in favor of Yei Joint Stars FC.

4. Imposing a one-year suspension on player Ariye Atiba Mercy starting from 22/4/2024.

5. Directing Yei Joint Stars FC and the local football association-Yei to follow the proper procedures for player registrations.

The ruling serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to the rules and regulations set forth by the South Sudan Football Association to maintain fairness and integrity in competitions.
