CEPO Commends Progress in Nairobi Peace Talks, Announces Trust-Building Initiatives

The Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) has expressed its appreciation for the advancements made during the recent peace talks in Nairobi, focusing on nurturing trust and confidence between leaders and citizens.

In response to these positive developments, Mr. Edmund Yakani, the Executive Director of CEPO, emphasized the critical importance of rebuilding genuine trust and confidence among political elites, leaders, and the general populace.

“Without authentic trust and confidence, sustainable peace and progress are unattainable.” He stated.

Building upon the success of the ongoing efforts, CEPO announced plans to launch a national initiative aimed at regaining trust and fostering confidence through inclusive public engagement across South Sudan. This initiative is intended to address the challenges posed by the country’s political transition and contribute to resolving deadly communal violence.

Looking ahead, CEPO revealed that in July 2024, they will introduce a citizen-centered trust and confidence-building program, further emphasizing the organization’s commitment to promoting unity, dialogue, and cooperation among all stakeholders in South Sudan.
