South Sudan Civil Society Alliance Urges Peaceful Resolution of Inter-State Conflicts
In a poignant statement issued by Mr. Debak Mabior Arok, the Executive Director of the South Sudan Civil Society Alliance, the organization has strongly condemned the escalating conflicts at the state level, particularly in Lake between Pakam Rumbek North and Luajang of the Tonj community, as well as in Abyei.
Mr. Arok emphasized, “We, the South Sudan Civil Society Alliance, believe that dialogue among communities is essential in addressing and overcoming these challenges. It is imperative for communities to come together, engage in meaningful conversations, and promote peaceful coexistence.”
The Civil Society Alliance raised concerns about the lack of implementation of laws, which they believe is fueling the proliferation of conflicts, indirectly supported by certain groups. They reiterated the urgent need for proactive measures to prevent further escalation of violence and prioritize peace-building efforts.
Furthermore, the organization called upon the state government to take swift action and reactivate inter-state peace conferences aimed at fostering dialogue and reconciliation among communities embroiled in conflict. They emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in promoting sustainable peace and stability within the region.
As tensions continue to rise and communities grapple with the devastating impact of conflicts, the South Sudan Civil Society Alliance appeals for a united front in seeking peaceful resolutions, advocating for the adherence to laws, and championing initiatives that promote harmony and understanding among all stakeholders involved.
The call for peace echoes loudly through the words of Mr. Debak Mabior Arok and the South Sudan Civil Society Alliance, as they stand firm in their commitment to promoting peace, unity, and reconciliation in the face of adversity.
