South Sudanese Delegates Engage in Productive Talks in Nairobi

Mr. Edmund Yakani, the Executive Director of CEPO, a vital Civil Society organization working towards peace in South Sudan, shared exciting updates regarding the ongoing negotiations in Nairobi. In a statement to the press, Yakani highlighted the collaborative efforts of government and opposition delegates, along with stakeholders, in reviewing the progress made during recent discussions facilitated by Kenyan mediators.

“We are pleased with the productive engagement witnessed among all parties involved in the 21-day negotiation and mediation process,” noted Yakani. “The report generated from these discussions presents a roadmap for addressing the root causes of political and economic instability in our country.”

The next phase of the negotiations will see each delegation team presenting their observations on the report before finalizing a comprehensive document aimed at finding sustainable solutions to the challenges plaguing South Sudan. Once completed, this report will be signed by representatives from both the government and the opposition, signaling a unified commitment to fostering peace and stability in the region.
