Aggrey Duku Arkangelo Announces Candidacy for CES-YU Chairpersonship, Promises Youth-Led Transformation

Aggrey Duku Arkangelo, a seasoned lawyer and dedicated youth activist, has officially declared his intention to contest the upcoming Central Equatoria State Youth Union (CES-YU) elections for the 2026–2030 term. Running under the banner ‘Peaceful, United, Transformed Union’ (PUTU), Arkangelo aims to lead a new era of reform and inclusivity within the union.
A graduate of the University of Juba School of Law, Arkangelo brings a wealth of experience in youth leadership, legal advocacy, and community service. His campaign is centered on a comprehensive reform blueprint designed to position CES-YU as a credible, impactful, and inclusive platform for the youth of Central Equatoria and beyond.

A Vision Rooted in Transformation
Arkangelo articulated a forward-looking vision focused on fostering an inclusive, peaceful, and transformed Youth Union. He aims to increase youth capacity development to 85% and drastically reduce tribal and ethnic affiliations among youth by 95% by 2030. Central to this vision is his proposed 100-day strategic policy framework called NASTA, designed to accelerate the union’s most urgent programs from day one of his potential leadership.
“Our diversity is our strength. When we unite across tribes, beliefs, and backgrounds, we can build a stronger, more peaceful, and impactful Youth Union,” Arkangelo stated.
A Three-Pillar Development Agenda
Arkangelo’s development plan rests on three core pillars:
- Peacebuilding: Engaging youth in reconciliation initiatives, establishing local peace committees, promoting inter-community sports and cultural exchanges, and creating safe spaces for youth involved in gangs and communal violence.
- Economic Transformation:
Supporting youth agriculture projects, micro-financing schemes, cooperatives, entrepreneurship training, and advocating for the implementation of the Youth Enterprise Development Fund bill. - Advocacy, Research & External Outreach:
Establishing youth research centers, engaging the diaspora, and forming regional partnerships with neighboring countries.
Experience That Sets Him Apart
Arkangelo’s extensive leadership background underscores his capability. As former Chairperson of the University of Juba Equatoria Student’s Cultural Association, he championed cultural unity and student welfare. His role as Secretary General of FALAS South Sudan and chairmanship of the electoral commission at the Addis Ababa conference showcase his expertise in electoral governance and organizational leadership. Additionally, his grassroots involvement as Secretary General of the Kakwa Youth Wing highlights his deep community roots.
As a practicing lawyer, Arkangelo also offers legal and policy expertise, which he plans to leverage in developing frameworks for youth rights, institutional reform, and governance within CES-YU.
A Call for Youth-Led Leadership
Arkangelo urged the youth of Central Equatoria to embrace leadership characterized by accountability, inclusivity, and purpose. “We are the leaders of today and tomorrow,” he emphasized. “Let us choose unity, progress, and transformation.”
The CES-YU elections are scheduled to select leadership for the 2026–2030 term, with delegates from across Central Equatoria expected to participate in the upcoming convention.
